Propolis

Propolis is a resinous substance honey bees gather from deciduous tree bark and leaves. The Bees use propolis to seal the hive holes and cracks as well as to provide protection from outside contaminants. Propolis disinfects and maintains sterility of the hive.

Also known as bee glue, propolis been referred to as Russian Penicillin. Propolis contains more bioflavonoids than an orange and has all the known vitamins except Vitamin K. Propolis, with the exception of sulfur, contains 14 of the minerals required by the body.

Propolis is comprised of:

  • 50-70% resins & balsams
  • 30-50% bees wax
  • 5-10% bee pollen
  • 10% essential oils 16 amino acids

Potential uses:

  • sore throats, sinus infections, respiratory infections
  • treat nail fungal infections & other types of fungus such as ringworm
  • use on minor scrapes and cuts as a preventative supplement to boost the immune system

  • antibiotic/antimicrobial effects mimic penicillin
  • supports the immune system
  • promotes oral health
  • may inhibit enzymes that increase blood sugar
